Vasectomy & Circumcision
Vasectomy
Vasectomy is a safe contraceptive method with a low complication rate and many advantages. It has no effect on erectile function or the production of seminal fluid. The decision to undergo vasectomy should be carefully considered; under Austrian law, patients must be at least 25 years old.
Before the procedure, a detailed consultation takes place. The vasectomy itself can be performed minimally invasively under local anesthesia in our modern operating room and takes about 20 minutes. If needed, light sedation is possible in collaboration with my colleague and experienced anesthesiologist, Dr. Buzath.
You can go home immediately after the procedure, but should plan for about one week of rest without sports or physical exertion. Contraception must be continued immediately after the vasectomy; the success of the procedure is checked about three months later with a semen analysis.
Circumcisions
For minor procedures such as circumcisions, the conditions in our medical center are ideal. We have a fully equipped operating room with all technical possibilities, while maintaining the relaxed, confidential, and child-friendly atmosphere of our practice outside a large hospital.
Circumcisions can be performed on an outpatient basis, usually under local anesthesia. If needed, anesthesia is also possible in collaboration with my colleague and experienced anesthesiologist, Dr. Buzath.
